You may call immediately. You do not have to wait for a more “convenient” time.
This call will determine the time and location for the Makura–gyo (Pillow service) traditionally conducted at the bedside following the death.
A factor that may delay this service would be the travel times for close family members to arrive at the location in a timely manner.
