About the Sangha

The Mountain View Buddhist Temple Sangha is made up of people of diverse backgrounds and ages. We are followers of Jodo Shinshu Buddhist teachings.
Our Temple is part of the 60-member Buddhist Churches of America (BCA), which belongs to the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji Ha tradition of Buddhism. Our Mother Temple is the Nishi Hongwanji located in Kyoto, Japan.
The temple is administered by the Board of Directors as defined in the by-laws of the Mountain View Buddhist Temple. The temple membership is divided into fourteen geographical zones called Toban Zones.
Representatives from each zone are elected and/or appointed annually to serve on the Board of Directors.
Temple affiliated organizations such as the Women's Association, Dharma School, Young Buddhist Association, and the Adult Buddhist Association are also represented on the temple board of directors.
